Ms. Jen Chiou-chin

Proactive, passionate, innovative

¡@¡@Mrs. Cheng is the core of our team. Her footsteps could be found in our meetings, discussions, contacting with others, and field trips. Because of her command of English, we have asked her to participate in the 2005 Global Forum for Health Leaders, which proceeded in English only, on our behalf. She brought back valuable opinions from many health leaders, enabling our project to reflect the latest information. In addition, she encouraged us to translate the topic of each progress report into English, so the foreign judges would be able to see the entire process of our project during the international competition. In order to raise the competency of our English ability, she would periodically help us correct the mistakes in our translations. With her strong support, we were able to complete this project without a hitch.

¡@¡@In this day and age of ever changing world, being proactive, passionate, and innovative would provide the motivational force behind progress. I am moved to see the children being proactively involved in this project; being passionate about the task of tobacco control and prevention; and being innovative in creating a comprehensive anti-tobacco project. What is laudable is that they were willing to sacrifice their weekends and vacations, and they put their words into actions by going to communities and school campuses to educate others about tobacco control and prevention. Their genuine nature makes one smile. This group of kids has evolved from not knowing much about tobacco products to talking about the danger of smoking in great details. The progress they have made should earn our loudest applause.
