Jeng Li-wei

There is plenty of room for tobacco control and prevention.

　　Li-wei is our team captain, because he is adept at making research project and creating website. Li-wei has been responsible for overseeing the creation of the main topics, establishing the project structure, and artwork design. After our team meeting, we were each assigned a specific task, and when those tasks were completed, they were given to Li-wei and our teachers to put together.

Sound Bite:

　　The famous nanotechnologist Richard Feynman made a speech during the American Physical Society meeting in 1995, named There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom. He predicted that there'd be a fourth industrial revolution, which would signal the beginning of the nanotechnology. As a parallel, I think there is plenty of room for tobacco control and prevention to take shape. After the tobacco companies had misled the general public by giving out false information and disrupted the legislation of tobacco control laws, it gave the anti-tobacco groups even more room to work with, and it gave them even more motivation to move ahead. After I have participated in this project, I finally realized that there is still a long way to go before we could have a tobacco-free world.

Liao Cheng-yen

Research is to inspire and unleash more potential.

　　Cheng-yen can think very clearly, even when he is faced with tasks that are in disarray. Therefore, after we have decided on the main topics of this project, his main job was to collect and organize information, so our team could be running on the right track and the project would proceed without a hitch.

Sound Bite:

　　Behind this project were countless hours of efforts and persistence. We were able to fight through bottlenecks and finish this project only because we were all adamant and we didn't give up so easily. Even if we don't win any awards, it doesn't mean that the blood, sweat, and time we infused in this project are all wasted, because every part of the process and every twist and turn represent a precious experience. During the course of the project, we not only won over laziness, we had to make ourselves think hard and be organized. This research has inspired and unleashed our potentials.

Chiang Chun-yi

Closing the gap on youth tobacco use.

　　Chun-yi is a good writer, and his articles are always well written. Therefore he is responsible for the editing of our writing for this project. In addition, because of his public speaking ability, he was always the leader when it came to doing interviews and taking surveys.

Sound Bite:

　　The FCTC specifically pointed out that the adolescents are its main objects of protection; therefore, "closing the gap on youth tobacco use" has become one of the most important tasks of tobacco control and prevention. In our everyday lives, most of the people around us are about our age, and we always tried to bring up the subject of tobacco control and prevention whenever we had a chance. We are very fortunate that we had thoroughly understood the danger of smoking before we were exposed to tobacco products in our lives. We would like to share our thoughts with everyone, so the future is brighter and stronger.

Chao Hsu-yuan

Thriving to become a world-class, first-rate public health country.

　　Shu-yuan is very artistically talented. Music and fine arts are his best subjects, therefore he naturally became responsible for the artwork and design of this project, and he has always surprised us with fine work. He has an innovative thinking, and his though process is unique, so he is able to add special touches too our project. He is the man with many great ideas.

Sound Bite:

　　Working on this project has given me a mission of "saving the tobacco slaves". Because the people who are lost amidst the cigarette smoke need us to extend our helping hands to them in order for them to escaped the abyss of smoke. I sincerely hope that more and more people who care would step forward, and they would work together on tobacco control and prevention, so that Taiwan can steadily become a world-class, first-rate public health country. Taiwan is also anticipating joining the WHO, which would ensure the healthiness and safety of our citizens.
